Frontier Publishers: website and enquiry system for an academic editing and publishing service
In short: Loop2Tech designed and built frontierpublishers.com for Frontier Publishers, a service that helps researchers prepare manuscripts for indexed journals: English editing, proofreading, translation, statistical review, journal selection and support through submission. The site runs on Laravel, presents fourteen services on their own pages, and turns visitors into enquiries through a form built around the one thing an academic editor needs first: the abstract.
What the client needed
Frontier Publishers sells to researchers, many of them writing in English as a second language, who have often just had a paper returned with comments about language or presentation. These visitors are careful. They compare several editing services, read the fine print, and will not send an unpublished manuscript to a company that looks careless.
The brief came down to three things: a site that reads as a serious academic business rather than a template, a clear page for every service so a researcher can find exactly the help they need, and an enquiry route that collects enough detail for an editor to reply with a real assessment instead of a generic price list.
How we approached it
Before writing any code we studied an established competitor in the same market, page by page. Two gaps stood out. Its pages carried no structured data at all, so search engines and AI assistants had nothing machine-readable to describe the business with, and its sitemap listed one version of each address while a second version served the same pages. Both are cheap to get right at the start and expensive to fix later, so we built them in from the first commit.
The visual design comes from a licensed premium theme. We used a single homepage layout from it and built every inner page from that same layout's own components, because the theme's ready-made inner pages use a different stylesheet and would not have matched. The client's own deep green accent runs through the whole site.
The business changed its name during the build. Because every page reads the company name, domain and contact email from one settings file, the rebrand to Frontier Publishers was a change in one place rather than a search through every page.
What we built
| Page or feature | What it does |
|---|---|
| Home | Opens on the question the visitor is already asking, whether a paper was turned down on language grounds, and shows a real before-and-after edit |
| Services | An overview of all fourteen services, from English editing to thesis editing and response-to-reviewer letters |
| Service pages | One page per service with the process step by step, what the author receives and who the service suits |
| How it works | The journey from first enquiry to delivered manuscript |
| Subject areas | The fifteen research fields the editors cover, from life sciences to humanities |
| About and Questions | Who the team is and plain answers to the questions researchers ask before paying |
| Contact | The full enquiry form, plus a shorter version on the homepage |
The edit demonstration
Every editing service claims to improve your writing. Few show it. The homepage includes a short demonstration that takes one sentence from a research paper and walks through three changes an editor would make, explaining each. A researcher sees the standard of work before sending anything, which does more to build trust than any badge.
An enquiry form built around the abstract
Most contact forms ask for a name and a message. This one asks for the abstract, the research field and the service the author is interested in, because that is what an academic editor needs to assess a paper and reply with something useful. Field and service are chosen from lists that match the site's own pages, so every enquiry arrives already sorted.
- Each enquiry is saved to the database before the notification email is sent, so a mail problem never loses a lead.
- Phone numbers are accepted in any international format, since authors write in from many countries.
- A hidden field stops spam bots, and a limit on repeat submissions stops floods.
- Someone who uses the short form on the homepage gets their confirmation on the homepage, not on a page they never visited.
Search and AI visibility
Researchers increasingly ask ChatGPT or Perplexity to recommend an editing service, and those tools answer more confidently about businesses they can read clearly. Every page carries structured data (code that tells search engines and AI tools what a business is and offers) describing Frontier Publishers as a professional service: its full catalogue of services with a link to each, the subject areas it covers, the languages it answers enquiries in and the fact that it serves authors worldwide.
The sitemap lists exactly the addresses each page declares as its own, one version only, and the robots.txt file points crawlers to it. Each page has its own title, description and canonical address, so search engines never have to guess which version to show.
We explain why this matters in our AEO, GEO and SEO service.
Testing and handover
The site ships with automated tests covering every page, the enquiry form and its validation, so later changes can be checked in seconds rather than by clicking through the site. Service content lives in one structured file, so adding or rewording a service updates its page, the services overview, the enquiry form's list and the structured data together.
What the client said
Loop2Tech did an excellent job designing and developing our website for Frontier Publishers. They understood our requirements and delivered a professional, user-friendly website that represents our publishing business well. The overall experience was smooth, and we appreciate their dedication, communication, and attention to detail. We would recommend Loop2Tech to businesses looking for reliable web development services.
Who this kind of build suits
This approach fits professional service businesses whose clients research carefully before they buy: editors, consultants, agencies and specialist firms. If your visitors compare several providers, read every page and need to trust you with something valuable, the site has to show its standard of work, explain each service clearly and make the first enquiry easy.
If that sounds like your business, our web development service covers the build, and a short conversation is enough for a fixed quote.
Frequently asked questions
What should a website for an academic editing service include?
At minimum: a separate page for each service, a clear explanation of the process, the subject areas covered, honest answers to common questions and an enquiry form that collects the abstract and research field. The Frontier Publishers site adds a worked example of a real edit, so researchers can judge the quality before they enquire.
Why ask for the abstract on a contact form?
An academic editor cannot quote or assess a paper from a one-line message. Asking for the abstract, field and service up front means the first reply can be a real assessment, which saves a round of emails and makes the enquirer feel heard rather than processed.
Why build a service website on Laravel instead of WordPress?
Laravel gave this project full control over the enquiry flow, structured data and sitemap without a stack of plugins to maintain and update. For a site whose content changes rarely but whose enquiry form must never fail, a small custom application with automated tests is easier to keep secure and fast.
Does structured data help a business appear in AI answers?
Structured data gives search engines and AI assistants a clear, machine-readable description of what a business offers, which makes it easier for them to describe and recommend it accurately. It is not a guarantee of being mentioned, but a business without it gives those tools much less to work with.
How hard is it to rename a website during a build?
It depends on how the site is built. Frontier Publishers changed its name partway through, and because every page takes the company name, domain and email from one settings file, the rename was a single change rather than a hunt through every page and template.
