Quick answer: Choose Wix if your website is mainly about your business, its services, bookings or portfolio, and you sell a modest range of products alongside it. Choose Shopify if selling products online is the business: it is built around the catalogue, the checkout, inventory and selling across channels, and it scales further. Prices to start selling are close, from US$22 a month on Shopify Basic and US$29 a month on Wix Core, both billed yearly.
Wix and Shopify both let you build a site without code, and both can take payments. They start from different places. Wix is a website builder that added a store. Shopify is a store platform that includes a website. That difference shows up as soon as you have more than a handful of products, more than one place you sell, or a team.
We build Shopify stores at Loop2Tech, so weigh our view accordingly. Wix is the better fit for some businesses, and this guide says which.

What Wix costs in 2026
On 3 November 2026, Wix's plans page showed these yearly prices in US dollars, which Wix notes are for reference and vary by location:
- Light: US$17 a month. It cannot accept online payments.
- Core: US$29 a month, with basic eCommerce, payments and scheduling.
- Business: US$39 a month, with standard eCommerce.
- Business Elite: US$159 a month, with advanced eCommerce.
Each paid plan includes hosting and a free domain for the first year. A free plan exists, but it cannot sell. With Wix Payments in the US, Wix's help centre lists 2.9% + US$0.30 per credit or debit card payment, 3.7% + US$0.30 for American Express and a 1.5% cross-border fee on international cards.
What Shopify costs in 2026
On the same day, Shopify's pricing page for Pakistan listed Basic at US$25 a month or US$22 billed yearly, Grow at US$65 or US$58, Advanced at US$399 or US$359, and Plus from US$2,300. New stores get a 3-day free trial, then pay US$1 a month for three months. Prices vary by country.
If you use a payment provider other than Shopify Payments, Shopify adds a third-party transaction fee to each order. Its Pakistan pricing page listed it on 30 October 2026 as 2% on Basic, 1% on Grow and 0.6% on Advanced. Most stores also pay for a few apps.
For a small shop, the two platforms cost much the same. The real question is which one fits the way you sell.
Where Wix wins
- Design freedom without code. Wix's editor lets you place anything anywhere on the page. Shopify themes are more structured.
- Services and bookings. Scheduling is built in from Core, so a salon, studio or consultant can take bookings and sell a few products on one site.
- One tool for a small business. A business whose site is mostly pages, a blog and a contact form, with a small shop, gets everything in one place.
Where Shopify wins
- The catalogue. Variants, collections, inventory across locations (up to 10 on Basic) and bulk editing are built for stores with hundreds or thousands of products.
- The checkout. Shopify's checkout is its core product and is maintained and tested for you.
- Selling everywhere from one stock count. Shopify connects the online store with social channels, marketplaces, point of sale and B2B on the plans that include them.
- Apps and developers. Shopify's app store and its pool of specialist developers are larger, so most things a growing store needs already exist.
- Room to grow. Plans step up to Advanced and Plus without moving platform.
Payments in Pakistan and the Gulf
Shopify Payments is not available to merchants based in Pakistan, but Shopify works with Pakistani gateways and cash on delivery. Our guide to Shopify payment gateways in Pakistan compares them. Wix Payments is offered only in some countries, and the third-party providers Wix supports vary by country too. Before you build on either platform, check that a payment method your customers use works for a business registered where you are.
For stores selling in the Gulf in two languages, our guide to bilingual Arabic-English Shopify stores covers right-to-left layouts and translated URLs.
Shopify vs Wix for SEO
Both platforms give you editable page titles and descriptions, a sitemap and clean enough code to rank. Neither will rank a store on its own. Two practical differences:
- URL structure. Shopify puts products under /products/ and categories under /collections/. Wix puts products under /product-page/. Neither lets you remove the prefix, and neither prefix holds a store back.
- Collection pages. Shopify's collections are where most store traffic is won, and they can carry their own copy and filters. Our guide to Shopify collection page SEO explains how.
Speed matters on both. On Shopify, apps are the main risk; on Wix, heavy page designs are. Our Shopify speed guide covers the fixes we apply.
Moving from Wix to Shopify
Many stores start on Wix and move to Shopify as the catalogue grows. Products can usually be exported and imported with a spreadsheet, but the design does not transfer, so the store is rebuilt on a Shopify theme. The step that protects your search traffic is redirecting every old Wix page and product address to its new Shopify address, which Shopify's URL redirects handle once your domain points to the new store.

Frequently asked questions
Is Wix cheaper than Shopify?
Not by much for selling. On 3 November 2026, the cheapest Wix plan that accepts payments, Core, was US$29 a month billed yearly, and Shopify Basic was US$22 a month billed yearly on its Pakistan pricing page. Payment fees, apps and how many products you sell usually matter more than the plan price.
Is Shopify or Wix better for SEO?
Both can rank. Both let you edit titles and descriptions and publish a sitemap. Shopify is stronger for stores because collection pages give categories their own rankable pages, while Wix suits sites where most traffic goes to service pages and blog posts.
Can I sell on Wix in Pakistan?
Wix Payments is available only in some countries, and the third-party payment providers Wix supports vary by country. Check Wix's list of payment providers for a business in Pakistan before building. Shopify supports Pakistani gateways and cash on delivery.
Can I move my Wix store to Shopify?
Yes. Products can usually be exported to a spreadsheet and imported into Shopify, and the store design is rebuilt on a Shopify theme. Redirect every old Wix address to its new Shopify address at launch so search rankings carry over.
Is Wix good for a small online store?
Yes, for a business selling a small range of products alongside services, bookings or content. A store that expects to grow its catalogue, sell on several channels or hire specialists is usually better on Shopify from the start.
